The Mountain Agricultural Resources Development Bureau was set up under the Provincial Agriculture and Forest Hall in April, 1951, to effectively exploit the hillsides for advancing economic and smoothing over the pressure from the increasing population. The main business was to promote and assist the soil and water conservation and agriculture and animal husbandry government of the slopeland. The 10th workshop was the precusor of our office,then renamed as the 1st work station in February, 1974.

The Mountain Agricultural Resources Development Bureau modified the name to the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau under orders in December, 1989. The 1st work station also become to the 1st engineering office of the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau for emphasizing the works on the mountain government and disaster prevention and soil and water conservation engineering. And the professional title of the organization supervisor changed from “Chief” to “Director.”

The office have been set in different places,then office building was built in 1979. We moved in and started to operate in the new office which was located at No.10, Jingjhong Rd., Sindian City, Taipei County , Taiwan (R.O.C.) in August 1980.

Because the Taiwan Provincial Government trimmed and streamlined the organization, we were changed to be subordinate to The committee of Agriculture,Executive Yuan in July, 1999.

Because of the organization modified policy, the 1st Engineering Office of Soil and Water Conservation Bureau was changed name to the Taipei Branch of Soil and Water Conservation Bureau.

In 2023, the Council of Agriculture was elevated to the status of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Taipei Branch of Soil and Water Conservation Bureau was upgraded to the Taipei Branch of Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation.
